Anointing of Sick

The sick have a special place in the community and  it is  special vocation. They witness to the vulnerable and finite aspect of each one of us.

In each sick person we are looking at ourselves some day. While sickness is not something we wish on anyone, yet it is an everyday reality and for this reason the church has this special sacrament called the anointing of the sick. In the word of the rite, “ Through the apostle James, the Lord has commanded us, ‘are there  any who are  sick among you?

Let them call for the elders of the church and the priest pray over them anointing them with the oil in the name of the Lord.’

This sacrament is received by a person who is ill, aged or nearing death. Normally a person is anointed no more that once a month.
